Busy Summer

Lake and I have had a blast since school was out. The first week I potty trained Lake! I did the "3 days to potty training" and he hasn't had an accident yet. It really worked. We've been going to the library, the mall, Chuckee cheese, the movies....We have really enjoyed the lake house this summer too. We will be going there today to spend the 4th of July weekend and then Monday, it's off to Tennessee. I also need some electronic advice. My laptop and my digital camera have officailly bit the dust. I want something fairly inexpensive since the lifespan of my current laptop was only about 3 years. The only thing i use it for is internet. I want a really good camera but durable. My current camera took a tumble on the tile floor by a certain 2 1/2 year old who was using it as a basketball...Any advice will be appreciated. I hope everyone is having a great summer!

Well, our internet servicce has been out for about two months. When it first went out, I was on the phone for 2 1/2 hours trying to get it fixed. And of course I got disconnected and they never called back. I thought I was going to die without my laptop! Actually, at first I was a little stressed but then after a week I really didn't miss it at all. It turned out to be a stress relief...I didn't have to update my blog, check my facebook, check my email....Anyways, I have decided that since it is fixed I will set time aside once a week to get on the internet. Check back soon for some recent updates of what Lake has been doing! I am so excited it's summer, I have 3 months to spend with my little buddy!

Rodeo Fun

Spring Break came and went really fast this year. Lake and I had lots of fun; especially at the rodeo. Lake got to spend a day at the kids areas with his friends Lauren and Landon and a night with his cousins watching Grant do the "Muttin Bustin" and listen to Pat Green in concert. Lake was our favorite little cowboy!

Lake's Surgery

Lake had surgery at Texas Children's Hospital yesterday. Everything went very good. For those of tou who don't know, we have been fighting skin issues with Lake since he was born. He starting getting these bumps all over his skin (molluscum is the technical name)they started to spread and multiply and eventually they were everywhere. The virus can take from 2 weeks to 5 years to run its course. We have been having some of them removed by a blistering treatment, 30 at a time. This wasn't working because they were multiplying too fast and his body couldn't fight it off. Your body works so hard to fight the virus and it weakens your immune system. The only way to get rid of them all at one time it to perform laser surgery. Yesterday, they removed 350 "bumps". We are praying that since they are gone, his body will will the battle. This was the scariest moment as a parent I've had so far. I was so nervous about them putting him to sleep; I didn't even read the paperwork you had to sign, I made Jeff do it. Texas Children's was so great. They had all the kids who were having surgery that day in a big room with lots of toys and they all had on matching little scrubs. When they took him back for surgery, they tricked them by taking them for a wagon ride, of course Lake fell for it. Today, he is doing great. He looks like he has the measles, but other than that you would never know he had surgery.

Remodeling, Ahh!!!!

We have been very busy in the Wadsworth household. Due to hurricane damage last fall, we have replaced the entire roof, entire ceiling and sheetrock of our house,paint, trim, crown molding and tile flooring throughout. I am excited about the end result but getting there has been hell;especially with a curious 2-year old. That being said, I haven't had time to update my blog or get on the computer at all. Here is a brief summary of the past couple of weeks: 2 weeks ago, Jeff went hunting in South Texas, so Lake and I went to spend some time with his Aunt Susan and cousins Grady and Grant. We went to the Zoo; which was vey crowded. We actually had to wait in line to see some of the animals. Grady, Grant and Lake got to ride in the wagon which was pulled by me. Lake's favorite animal was the elephant.He also enjoyed the petting zoo and kissing the goats! On Sunday, when Jeff got back, we went and saw Sesame Steet Live. It was so good, I couldn't believe Lake liked it better than Disney on Ice. Last weekend, Jeff and I went for a much needed date night for Valentines. Lake stayed with Aunt Pam and Mawmaw. We went to eat at the Melting Pot with some friends, went to a Piano bar and stayed the the Hilton Hotel for the night. I think everyone should have a date night out away from all the baby toys, high chairs,etc...Anyways, Jeff and I had a great time. We really needed a break from the construction zone we have been living in. Tonight, Jeff surprised me with all new stainless steel appliances. (I have allways had hand-me-downs, we currently have a beige fridge, white dishwasher and black stove)I can't wait untill everything is done.I am very tired of having dust all over my pants everywhere I go!

In Trouble!

Lake had to go to the principal's office! I was picking up Lake from daycare and the lady up front said hold on just a second, we need to talk to you about Lake. (You know when they say this it is not a good sign) She proceeded to tell me that Lake pushed another child. The kid fell into the bookshelf and sliced his eye. They had to take the kid to the emerengy room to get stitches. I was speechless. All I could think was "Oh my goodness, I can't believe he did this." I left without saying much. When we got into the car I asked Lake, "Did you push Ben?" He said "Mommy, he hit me in the cheek." I know this is not an excuse for the pushing but I felt a little better. I called Jeff and told him to go to the daycare and get the full story. He went back but didn't get much more information but they said they would have a full report for him the next day. The next morning she told me that she talked to his teachers and they said they were arguing over a toy. She said that they wrestle and push each other all the time. I told her to start putting Lake time out for pushing. This will definately have to go in the baby book. Boys will be boys!

Christmas 2008

It's been really hard for me to catch up lately; especially blogging. Christmas was great this year. We are so thankful to have such wonderful friends and family. Lake was so fun to watch this year. He got excited about every gift he opened. We spent 9 days in Tennessee celebrating the holidays. It was very busy and eventful. We went to Chattanooga to ride the Polar Express; Lake loves trains. We spent the rest of the time visiting friends and family. We also went to North Carolina to ski. It way way too warm to ski, it was 50that day so the mountain was very icy, I went down one time and took off my skis and called it quits. Jeff, Wyatt and Tony skied all day; they're much better than me. Santa visited Lake this year. His favorite gifts were his wagon and his Camo recliner. We took so many pictures this year so I just posted a few of my favorites.

Decorating the Little Tree

Lake had fun decorating his little tree to go in his room. He is really excited about Christmas this year. We've been trying to teach him the "Christmas Story" this year. We bought him a nativity set for kids. He calls them Mommy and Dada and Baby Jesus. Yesterday, he put baby Jesus on top of his airplane and said "Baby Jesus going to see Mamaw and Papaw!" It was so funny. We will be leaving tommorrow morning to spend the holidays in Tennessee. Lake can't wait to see his Tennessee family and friends.

Santa's Wonderland

We took Lake to Bass Pro Shop to see Santa. This was much better than waiting in line at the mall. There was only one kid there besides Lake; the Santa was really good too. (if anyone has a Bass Pro close to their house they should check it out, all the details are on the internet) They had all kinds of stations set up for kids to do. Lake wrote his letter to Santa; check out which hand he is writing with. He played with the "ChooDoo train". He got to shoot the BB gun at targets; this was Jeff's favorite part. (And no, real BB's did not come out of the gun, it was laser activated). He talked to the elves, I thought they were a little scary but he really liked them. Then it was over to see Santa......Not so good. He would not sit on his lap but he did let Jeff take him over for a visit. We tried to put him on his lap but there was a lot of screaming. We played in the Wonderland a little longer and then it was time to go. Then he kept yelling "Bye Bye Santa, See ya later" like he was best friends with him. Oh well, maybe next year we'll get him on Santa's lap!

Thanksgiving

This year was a great Thanksgiving; except that I forgot my camera! Mom, Dad and Wyatt came down and we stayed at the lake house all week. We did a little fishing and alot of eating! We started a new tradition this year. Wyatt and Jeff cooked a "Turkey in the hole". They dug a huge hole and burned a fire in it for about 6 hours. (Thanks to Wyatt for staying up until 1 a.m.)then they put in the turkey (they seasoned it and wrapped it in 7 layers of aluminum foil) they covered it in dirt and let it bake for 12 hours. At lunch time they dug it out. It was the best turkey i've ever eaten! It fell right off the bone. Great job guys! Jeff's family also came down for dinner. They were all really upset the Aggies lost. I'll post some pictures as soon as I can get mom to email them to me. These pictures are of Lake playing in his kitchen that he got for his birthday. He loves to push his little shopping cart around and say "I'm going to Wal-mart, See ya later." Then he brings his cart to his kitchen and starts cooking. This age is really difficult for me. He can be so darn cute but at other times the terrible two's are killing me!

Last night I actually stood in line for an hour to see a movie! I was so excited to see it; I actually bought my ticket a few weeks back to make sure I had one. The show was sold out. Some of my teacher friends and I really got into the series. I think I read all 4 books in a couple of weeks. We even made matching shirts to wear; of course mine said "Team Edward" on the back! I can't wait for the next movie to come out. I guess I am one of those "Twilight Fanatics!"

Disney on Ice

Last week we went to see "Disney on Ice" and Lake had a blast. The whole family had on Disney shirts; Jeff was thrilled! Lake was so good. He sat through the whole 2 hour show. I loved watching him get so excited when Mickey Mouse came out.

Lake's 1st movie

Today we attempted to take Lake to his 1st movie. We went to see Madadascar 2. Lake lasted 1 hour 15 minutes then he said "I wanna go bye bye" , so we got up and left. We then went to eat lunch at Rainforest Cafe. Lake did really good at the movie but about 30 minutes in, he said "I need potty" so Jeff got up and took him. As they were coming back in to sit down Lake yelled out "I went Poo poo!"

Trick or Treat!

Lake really enjoyed Halloween this year. He wouldn't say "trick or treat" but he did hold out his bucket and say "more canny!" He had two costumes this year. He was Dumbo,(Thanks Anne) and he was an Indian, (Thanks Mamaw). He wore Dumbo to daycare, and he was an Indian for trick or Treating. When we went to search for what the "Great Pumpkin" had brought him, he had to put his Dumbo costume back on. He loved watching all the kids come to our house. We ran out of candy at 9:00, (I had bought enough stuff for 130 kids). We had to send the rest of the kids away. When did parents start trick or treating by vans and cars...They had loads of kids in their cars and they were crusing by slowly and the kids would jump in and out as they rode down the streets. Alot of kids didn't even have costumes; and they were too old, like high school aged. Jeff didn't even want to give them candy...Oh well, maybe next year we will post some rules. Hope everyone had a fun Halloween!

Lake's 2nd Birthday

We had such an exciting weekend in Tennessee. Lake was so happy to see his Mamaw and Papaw! Here's a brief summary of our weekend: We got home late on Thursday night and went straight to bed. Friday, Lake went and visited Mamaw at Rockwood Middle School. We went over to the High school to check out the Homecoming events. I was a little disappointed. I guess I was expecting the "Good Ole Days" I guess kids these days don't know how fun it is to paint windows, practice for the talent shows and try and hide your float for the parade! Anyways, Lake and I rode in a convertable with Papaw in the parade; Papaw was the Grand Marshall! We went to the Homecoming game on Friday night. Believe it or not this was only the 2nd game I have been to since I graduated High School! On Saturday, we had a birthday party for Lake. He got lots of good presents and got to spend time with his friends and family. Sunday, we spent the day outside enjoying the Tennessee weather. It was very busy but we sure enjoy all the time we get to spend in Tennesee.

This picture of Lake is after a trip to the Lake House. He was exhausted and his head kept bobbing around so I was trying to find a way to keep it up and this was the best thing I could come up with! I took tons of pictures of the house; it is looking much better. However, Jeff's camera does not plug into the computer with a regular USB cable; his special cable is at work. The water is starting to look much better, it actually looks greenish. (After the hurricane, it was so muddy looking.)Jeff cleared off a lot of the bank and we can actully sit by the water in a lawn chair. This weekend, we are headed to Tennessee for Lake's 2nd birthday. His Mamaw and Papaw are so excited to throw a little party for him. The Lake House

It's officially ours! Jeff and I have been on a real journey over the past few months. We thought about selling our house, thought about buying some land, thought about buying a lake lot to set our camper on....the list goes on. With the housing market the way it is, and the fact that they are building a new subdivision behind our house, we knew that selling our house wasn't an option right now. However, we really wanted to get out of the city and be able to enjoy some big tress and the sounds of nature. We drove up to Lake Livingston one weekend on a whim and fell in love with it. It reminds us so much of Tennessee; there are even a few hills! Anyways, we knew that finding a weekend home on our budget would be very hard to do. After many trips out there, and some help from a local realtor, we found our cabin! O.k, it is a real fixer-upper but Jeff and I knew the house had lots of potential. We were worried if it would even still be standing after the hurricane, but it survived. Fiday we went up there and closed on it, and immediately got to work. This weekend we painted Lake's bedroom, made one of the restrooms usable and put two coats of primer on the dark paneling in the den. It needs a lot of TLC but we're up to the challenge. I thought I would include some pictures of our work in progress. Stay tuned as more improvements happen each weekend!

These are just a few pictures of our ceiling as the damage was occuring. Things got worse as it continued to rain but all those pictures are on Jeff's camera. We tried to make it up to the lake House but the roads were too flooded. The realtor said everything was O.K. We'll get a better look this weekend. My school was cancelled all week so I have plenty of time to get all this mess cleaned up; thanks goodness. Things could have been a lot worse. We are very greatful for everyone's thoughts and prayers!

Hurricane Ike

We survived! Since they did not have a mandatory evacuation for our zip code, we decided to stay and stick it out. Welost power yesterday about 5:00 and it came back on this morning about 6:30. Thank goodness the hurricane brought some cool wind with it; we didn't sweat too bad last night. However, at about 3 a.m I heard the shingles ripping off our roof! A little while later, water was driiping from our ceiling...from everywhere... out the vents,the light fixtures, out the ceiling fans. We have buckets and bowls everywhere trying to catch the water. When we finally could go out side to assess the damage we saw that most of our roof was in our front yard! There are shingles everywhere. Lake slept through the whole thing. When he he woke this morning, he kept saying "Uh,Oh!" and then he started dumping out all the bowls and buckets of water on the floor; that little stinker! We had also used his plastic pool as a water catcher and what do you think he did....yep, jumped in and said he was swimming. On a sad note, we were supposed to close on our Lake House on Friday and that was postponed. The Lake Livingston area got hit pretty hard and we are very nervous about our little cabin. We are going to drive up there tonight to see it its still standing. Everyone pray thats its o.k., Jeff and I had big dreams for our little cabin on the lake; it reminds us so much of Tennessee. Anyways, just wanted everyone to know we were O.K. Stay tuned for pictures of the damage.....

Gymnastics

Lake is doing much better at Gymnastics now that Daddy gets to come. He is stating to wait his turn without having to be held down and he can now do forward rolls all by himself! He loves going; as soon as we pull into the parking lot he yells "Yeah, Nastics!"

Canyon Lake

Last weekend, we went to San Antonio to go to a friends wedding. We stayed at a friend of Jeff's mom condo at Canyon Lake. It was a good little mini-vacation before school starts. Check out the Bucks that were on the golf course!

Back to School

We have been so busy lately and I haven't had time to post anything. This week, Lake started back to daycare and I had to go back to work. This week has been a little tough for Lake.Today, Lake's teacher told me they brought him up front during nap time because he wouldn't take a nap and he kept waking all the other kids up. The good thing was he didn't cry when I left him today. He is such a big boy. When I left him today, I took him to the cefeteria for breakfast and I waved good bye to him. He said,"Bye,Bye Mommy, I eat eat." And then he blew me a kiss. I can't believe he is almost 2!

We went to eat last last at a Mexican restaurant down the street and this is what Lake wore: his baseball p.j's, which are way too small, his bass pro shop hat, and his camo rain boots! I really felt like white trash but this is what he wanted to wear and he was happy. I met Jeff there after he got off work and he couldn't believe I brought him out in that, I told him to try and stay at home all day and keep a 21 month old happy and he'll see why he looks the way he did!

We had a great time in Tennessee. We loved spending the 4th of July on Watts Bar Lake! We kept ourselves busy the whole time. We went fishing with Uncle Wyatt, went to the Smokies and to Cherokee with Mamaw and Papaw, and had a cookout at Uncle David's and just hanging out with friends. I got to spend time with some of my friends that I haven't visited with in a while. Lake also got to visit with some of his Rockwood playmates; Sailor, Blake, Addison, Grant, Bella and Eli. It still feels like home every time I go back!

We went camping this week at Yogi Bear park with one of my friends and her two kids. It was so hot! Thank goodness for a air conditioned camper. They had a water park where we got to cool off a little bit. Lake also enjoyed fishing and petting the animals at the petting zoo. He loves being outdoors!

Summer Fun

We have had so much fun the last week and a half! We have been swimming, going to Chucke Cheese, taking gymnastics, going to story time at the library, and having play-dates with our friends. Lake likes to stay busy and so does mommy; the more we are out of the house the cleaner it stays. Tomorrow we are going camping at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park with just the mommy's and kids; Lake is so excited!

Dance Recital

After several months of classes, practices and rehearsals, the recital is over! This was definitely a lot more work than I ever thought it would be. At first, I thought I would just take some classes for exercise. Somehow I ended up performing at the "7th Annual Cultural Encounter honoring Puerto Rico". It was at the University of Houston's Cullen Performance Hall and all 1,500 seats were sold out! I danced in hip hop and belly dance. We all met at the studio at 9:45 in the morning (for a 7:30 show) and rode in these really nice buses for the 30 minute ride to the show. We had hair and make-up artists there to help us get ready and dressing rooms with people to help with our costumes. It was so much fun; I felt like a star for the day! No cameras were allowed during the show, so when I get a copy of the DVD I will post it online. Take a close look at the picture of me with my mom and dad, dad's face is priceless!

Mamaw and Papaw are here for the week to visit. Lake is so excited to see them. He's also excited that he gets to spend all summer with his mommy; no daycare!

Special Delivery!

Lake has a new friend! Mamaw sent Lake a very special package today. With a little help from Ebay, she found a "My Buddy" doll. These were vey popular back in the 80's. Wyatt had a "My Buddy" that he took everywhere with him. My Buddy used to ride bikes, play on the swingset, go camping, build forts in the woods, he went everywhere that Wyatt went. I am so happy that Lake has one. As soon as he opened the package he saw him. (Actually, he saw the Moon Pies first and we had to get one open.) He picked him up and gave him a hug, then he started feeding "My Buddy", he kept saying "bite, bite". He even made it to the crib with him tonight!

Busy Spring in Texas

Sorry for not posting pictures in a while. We have been very busy over the last month. From dance recital practices, searching for the perfect piece of land, packing up my classroom (our school is being remodeled over the summer and we have to pack everything; including our cabinents) and trying to keep up with a toddler who is always on the run or climbing everything; I haven't had much time to take any pictures. We went to a friend's ranch and Lake got to pet a longhorn. The Longhorn that Lake is petting is a girl. By the way, not all cows with horns are bulls. Jeff and his friend thought that it was hilarious that I didn't know this. I told him that cows are different in Tennessee. Who knew.....

We had a very busy Spring Break. We went to Tennessee from Saturday-Wednesday. We got to spend some time with family and Lake got a special visit from his buddy Grant Kirkham for a play date. (Next time we come, we'll be there much longer and get to visit more of Lake's friends; I promise.) On Thursday, Lake had a Easter Party with all his friends from my moms group, and then we packed to go camping. Friday-Sunday we went to Matagorda Bay to go camping and then back to El Campo for Easter Dinner and another egg hunt and finally back home Sunday night. (Note to all moms; never try to be cheap and take a 17 month old on a plane as a lap child by yourself; this was a horrible experience, i'll never do it again...)

Lake went on his 3rd camping trip this weekend. Even though the weather called for thunderstorms, we decided to go anyway. Instead of trying to use our tent, we rented a screened shelter instead. I'm glad we did, because last night the weather was a little rough. I'm so happy Lake likes to go camping. Since a lot of my childhood summers were spent at Cumberland Mountain State Park; its very special for me to share this with him.

Basketball Star

I just had to post this video of Lake. When I came home for work today, I heard him playing basketball in his playroom so I went to watch him, he hit 7 in a row! I had to run and grab a camera to see if he'd keep playing and I caught him shooting a few. He may be the next Michael Jordan.... Enjoy the show!

New Firsts

I am amazed everyday by the new things Lake is doing. Today, he had two firsts. This morning, I was getting ready for work and Lake said "Mama, poo-poo" I wasn't really sure what he meant by this so I checked his diaper and he was fine. He said it again so I carried him to the bathroom and sat him on the toilet and he did his business right away. I could not believe it. 16 months is a little early for potty training and I know it was probably a one time thing but I was excited anyways. This afternoon he sat at his table and put his puzzle together by all by himself; he is becoming a little boy!

Teachers Fund Run

On Saturday, Lake and Mommy and Daddy participated in 5K run for teachers. For us, it was actually a run/walk. Lake does not enjoy being in his stroller longer than 30 minutes so by the timeit started he was on edge. He did really good the 1st half, but coming back, he screamed the whole way. He was so happy to get out of his stroller. Radio Disney was there playing music so afterwards he had a lot fun dancing and playing with the other kids. Saturday night we went out to eat for a friends birthday. They have a huge sandbox/playground. Lake started to climb inside one of those playhouse things and a liitle girl screamed in his face and said "No boys aloud!" So what did Lake do......he picked up a handfull of sand and threw it at her! I had to tell him no, no we don't throw sand but I was laughing the whole time.

This first picture of Lake cracks me up! I kept telling him to say "Cheese" and he was making the funniest faces. He is at a really fun stage right now. I love to hear him say new words and try to mimic everything I say. He is growing up so fast. This weekend I was going through his toys and packing up his baby toys and I felt like I was going to cry; I can't believe he is almost16 months old.

Cool Weather in Texas

Earlier this week it got really cool in Texas, the wind chill was 38. Lake got to waer his winter coat for the first time! Today the weather was really good so we decided to go to the park. Lake loves petting the animals and playing on the playground.

I guess it's time for Lake to have a new robe. Tonight he was strutting around the living room and Jeff said he looked like a "Chip and Dale's" dancer. I've gotta find one that's a little bit longer. Lake also learned a new trick today. He has been doing the "moonwalk" all around the house. He thinks its so funny when he walks backwards.

This weekend, Jeff and I got to spend some time with our friends on their farm. This is the last weekend of deer season so we had to go hit the stands. We didn't have any luck with hogs or deer, but early this morning the boys got some dove and some geese. Lake loves going to visit the Kallina's. Anything that is outdoors is heaven for him. Tommorrow is my first day back after Christmas break and Lake's first day in the toddler class; no more nursery. I am so sad because I love his nursery teachers and Lake does too. We are really hoping his new teachers will be as loving. Wish us luck!

It has been a very busy 9 days! Lake was so fun this year, he loved to open up his presents. (Actually, he loved the boxes and paper better than the actual presents.) Lake got to spend lots of time with his Mamaw, Papaw and Uncle Wyatt. Here is just a brief summary of things we did: Sunday morning we went to the Methodist Church; this is the church I grew up in. Lake really showed out during childrens time; he stood in front of the congregation and clapped his hands the whole time. That night we went back for a covered dish dinner, the children's program and a visit from Santa. I just love getting those brown sacks with a orange, juicy fruit and few nuts and a candy bar; it brings back such good memories for me. We spent Christmas Eve with Uncle David, Aunt Karen and Mendy and Matt. We went to the Christian Church to hear Matthew sing and right after Matthew sang, we cut out early. Lake was having a hard time sitting through the service; he was trying to crawl under the pews. Christmas morning, Santa came to Mamaw and Papaw's house. I told Lake Santa only comes to Tennessee; not Texas! (Fellow Rockwoodians who have the homemade santa stockings, check out the picture of Lake and Jeff's, I was so excited to find a woman at a craft show who made them!) We went to Brentwood to spend Christmas Day with my Dad's family. The rest of the time was spent visiting friends and family all over! Jeff and I did get to go to the movie and dinner one night and we went out with Uncle Wyatt on Friday. We're off to the airport tommorrow morning at 4:00 am. It was a busy trip but I really enjoy spending time in Tennessee for Christmas; it just feels like home.

Well, I tried to get Lake to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas........The result was not so good! He screamed the whole time. He was so scared, he didn't even want to stay to make an ornament or sing Christmas carols. I told him I guess we'll just have to write a letter to Santa instead so he will know what he wants.

This one one of my favorite Thanksgivings yet! My Mom, Dad, and Brother drove all the way from Tennessee to spend Thanksgiving with us. Lake loves spending time with them. He ate turkey, green beans, broccoli rice casserole and sweet potatoes, and for dessert, pumpkin pie. Mom and I headed out at 4:00 the next morning to get some bargain shopping done. I have realized I am getting too old for this. The lines were too long so we left and went to Panera Bread instead! We also took some pictures to use for Christmas cards. We all were taking turns trying to get Lake to smile. Lake loves crawling under the Christmas tree; although it made Mamaw and Papaw nervous. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.

It was way overdue. Lake really needed a haircut. I kept his pretty curls as long as I could. His Papaw kept asking me if I had gotten it cut yet; so I took that as a hint. My friend Holly cut it Friday afternoon in my classroom. Lake did such a good job, as long as he's eating, he's happy! He looks like a big boy now.

What an exciting evening! Lake went to a costume party with 15 other infants tonight. He had such a good time. He stayed in his costume the whole night. He even won the "Best Costume" award. He was happy all night; especially when he got to eat some candy. Our "Little Chicken"really strutted his stuff for everyone to see!

Octoberfest 2007

Today we went to some friends of ours annual "Octoberfest". It was a day full of eating, fishing, pumkin carving, hayride, and of course a big bonfire. Lake was so good; he stayed up until 9:00 and did not fuss at all. He loves being outdoors and todays weather was perfect; around 65!

Weekend Getaway

As you can see there are no new pictures of Lake this week. This is because Jeff and I had a much needed weekend away (actually, just one night). We decided to head to College Station; (Aggieland). We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast called "The Reveilee Inn"; it is an old Plantation sytle house full of Texas A&M memorablilia. First,we visited campus and walked around. This was the first time I got to see campus when there wasn't a home game. I got to see Jeff's old dorm room, the fish pond, the century tree, the bonfire memorial...... A&M is a really beautiful school full of history! We then went to eat lunch at the famous "Wings and More". We also went on a wine tour and tasting at Messina Hof winery and had dinner there at the "Vintage House". Breakfast the next morning was wonderful; homemade apple dumplings! Then it was time to head home and get Lake; we both woke up that morning missing him so much. He stayed with his Aunt Susan and Uncle Chris and his cousins, Grady and Grant. Although it was very hard to leave Lake overnight, it was so great to get to spend some quality time as just husband and wife.
